Numerical methods for time-fractional diffusion

Abstract: During the past decade, parabolic equations involving a fractional-order derivative in time have received much attention, and a large number of numerical methods have been developed. Many of these existing methods were developed by assuming that the solution is sufficiently smooth, which however is generally not true. In this talk, I will describe our works on developing and analyzing and robust numerical schemes that do not assume solution regularity directly, but only data regularity.
